Apollo Preschool follows recommendation of the Brevard County School System for all closures during the hurricane season. Please check our Facebook page for important announcements and updates.
Our main entrance is locked and requires a code that every parent must input to gain access to the facility. After being greeted by our front office staff, the child is allowed to walk to their classroom. A sign-in/sign-out entry station monitors the attendance of each child, and teachers track your child throughout the day. Our employees undergo background checks and fingerprinting, and we practice monthly safety drills to ensure your child’s safety.
Parents are allowed to enter the classroom as needed to check on their child. We maintain constant communication with our parents, and our staff is always available to answer questions about your child’s progress. Our facility is cleaned multiple times on a daily basis to ensure proper levels of cleanliness at all times.
Every child goes through an adjustment period, especially if they have never been in childcare before. Upon request we allow the child to meet their teacher in advance, and we encourage new families to schedule a tour with their child to view the center after hours. This gives your child a chance to explore their classroom, without the distraction of other kids, and become familiar with their new environment. Throughout your child’s first day, we send you updates. We always ask you to allow your child up to two weeks to adjust to their new environment and routines.
At Apollo, we serve each child a healthy breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack from our full kitchen. Beverages include milk, water, and juice. We post the menus every month for parents to view. Click here for our sample menus.
If your child has food allergies, a special dietary requirement, or does not like what is being served that day, please provide a substitute meal for your child. It is important that you list any moderate or severe allergies your child may have. We do not serve shellfish of any kind. In the event your child is prescribed an EpiPen, we will store the medication in a medicine cabinet with instructions and a signed medical form.
You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks for your child. Please label all items with your child’s first and last name.
If a child becomes sick while in our care, we contact the parent or guardian and ask them to pick up the child within 1 hour. The state publishes a comprehensive policy on guidelines for accepting ill children into our care, and our Sick Child Policy is available upon request for your review. Our Parent Handbook also outlines in detail our procedures for handling sick children.
Our teachers are trained in positive discipline methods, so we teach calming techniques to our students and utilize positive reinforcements to assist them in handling escalated situations. A more complete discipline policy will be provided upon enrollment in the Parent Handbook.
Anyone that the parent allows if they present photo identification. For each child you enroll, we will request an information card listing your contact information plus a list of who can or cannot pick up your child. We will get to know the primary person who picks up your child, but anyone we do not recognize will be required to produce a photo ID, and they must be listed on your child’s information card. For quick reference, we keep the cards at the front desk. Please ensure your information is current and let us know of any legal custodial changes.
